The songs I can't stop listening to 4/26/13

1. Echospace - "Empyrean"
2. Mobius Band - "Friends Like These"
3. Vivaldi: Violin Concerto In E Minor, RV 277, "Il Favorito" - 3. Allegro (Elizabeth Blumenstock & the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra)
4. Nicolas Jaar - "Keep Me There"
5. Louis Armstrong & Jack Teagarden - "Rockin' Chair"
6. Cher - "Song For The Lonely" (Illicit Radio Version)
7. Suckers - "A Mind I Knew"
8. Susie Hansen - "No te metas conmigo"
9. The xx - "Chained"

Some electronic music this week. Some Vivaldi. Some Latin music. Cher.

We start with some chill electronic something or other from Echospace. I think this is what the kids call "dubstep," maybe.

There's lots of gray shades
But that don't make black the same as white
You said it feels good
Like that makes everything all right
But I don't blame you
You were only looking out for yourself
History's proven
That that's what we do best

Every recording I hear from the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra seems to take the music to the very edge of its possibilities. Stunning Vivaldi.

More electronic something or other. Nicolas Jaar is mesmerizing.

Louis Armstrong...

Oh, Cher.

Dancing late
We keep going on first dates
Underneath your sheets
Sleight of hand and daring feats
The pain just peels
Blooms confetti color fields
The sun rolls up
Rolling like a paper cup

Salsa music or something.

I watched you breathe in
And I wished you'd stop
Only for long enough
Long enough

[...]

If a feeling appears
If your mind should sway
It's not a secret you should keep
I won't let you slip away
